Possibly the most beautiful engineer boots is a 1950s Chippewa. I’ve become like rain man, saying, “definitely, definitely Chippewa…” It has the best profile that has never been bested, in my opinion. However, before I had any money saved to buy a vintage pair of boots, I bought this pair.
Made in the USA, rough-out, spec number 27911. Yes, this pair was less than $100, on sale at one of those shops that don’t exist anymore on 8th Street, Greenwich Village. It was 2006 and I was Fukurokuju’s first overseas customer. I can’t believe these boots are 13 years old. How time flies!
